Research
The centre research is structured into five interconnected areas as illustrated.

Two of the areas were the initial starting points of the Centre, and continue to form an integral part of the work conducted:
- Advanced media technology: Developing media and communication technologies, and applying new and existing technologies to promote sustainability.
- Sustainability assessment methods: Developing methods and tools for sustainability assessment of media and communication products and services, as well as companies, plans and policies with ICT connection.
In addition, we have identified three focus areas that characterize the added value of the Centre:
- Transforming communications industry: Understanding and changing the processes and practices of companies forming the media and communications industry. Studying the effects of dematerialization of media products and their distribution.
- Changing behavior: Studying, understanding and predicting the role of ICT in changing the behavior of people and organizations toward more sustainable practices. Innovating new uses and services that persuade people to track and change their everyday behavior.
- New social interaction spaces: Using mediated communication solutions to design new spaces for social interaction between different locations. Evaluating and describing spatial design quality in terms of its enabling function for social interaction. Investigating the acceptance and use of mediation technologies, both at the individual level and in organizations, for example through changes in company policies regarding teleworking and travel.
